Form ply

Are you able to apply flow coat to form ply?
I'm going to rip up carpet & put new lids over fuel tank as old one's are a bit bowed.

I would give form ply a good rough up if I was going to try to put any polyester resin product on it. Flow coat by itself may crack and allow water through. Perhaps consider a light coat of mat and resin before hand and prime it with resin thinned 10% with Styrene monomer to key it in
