Question Does any one use a barometric pressure monitor

I'm looking at getting one of these units. Would it benifit my fishing? Any comments apreciated.

    Barometric Pressure Monitor

Access advanced barometric pressure capability of your Fishing System to refine your fishing tactics to changing weather conditions. WeatherSense™ Fishing Condition Monitor tracks barometric pressure in real time and displays the information on your Matrix Fishing System unit. See increasing or decreasing barometer trend and digital readout on your sonar screen.
    • Key Features:
    • All Humminbird Fishing Systems are ready to connect to WeatherSense Fishing Condition Monitor so you can adapt your tactics to changing weather that impacts fish. WeatherSense provides increasing or decreasing barometer trends on a full screen view or as a digital readout on your sonar screen if you choose. Plus, WeatherSense internal battery and smart monitoring system always logs the last 12 hours of the barometric pressure, so you'll start the day with an accurate, up-to-date trend information.
    • Pros know changing weather conditions impact fish behavior! It is a known fact that right before a major weather front, the barometer falls rapidly, causing most fish and game to become quite active, which generally enhances their feeding instincts. The opposite occurs behind the front. Fish turn dormant, often burying themselves into the densest cover. Catching fish under these conditions requires totally different techniques than under normal conditions. Anglers who understand these conditions will be the most successful

Not that one, but seriously considering putting a barometer in the boat - it would be nice to see a change.... I think it would be really useful.

    ggested Tactics
    High
    Clear skies
Fish slow down, find cover or go to deeper waters.
Slow down lures and use baits more attractive to fish. Fish in cover and in deeper waters.

    Rising
    Clearing or improving
Fish tend to become slightly more active
Fish with brighter lures and near cover. Also fish at intermediate and deeper depths.

    Normal and stable
    Fair
    Normal fishing
Experiment with your favorite baits and lures.

    Falling
    Degrading
    Most active fishing
Speed up lures. Surface and shallow running lures may work well.

    Slightly lower
    Usually cloudy
Many fish will head away from cover and seek shallower waters. Some fish will become more aggressive.
Use shallow running lures at a moderate speed.

    Low
    Rainy and stormy
Fish will tend to become less active the longer this period remains.
As the action subsides, try fishing at deeper depths.

These are my simple thoughts without dragging it out too far.

Without sounding smart ar**y I think you'll only confuse yourself with this bit of "marketing" & so called “real time jargon”

There's been a lot of various products on the market aimed in similar directions to this, none of which ever really took off for pretty obvious reasons.

You should know prior to going out what the weather is doing both for fishing reasons & moreso for safety.

Rarely do weather fronts come & go quickly enough in a 12 hour period to remotely affect fish.
They aren't fitted with switches which is "almost" what this marketting is implying.
Furthermore there are so many other different factors to think about.

It’s entirely up to individuals but I wouldn't go near it.

There’s no MAGIC easy way to catch fish except knowledge & experience I'm afraid.

I have that unit. For fishing? Hasn't been useful really, but it is handy to have a barometer on board to make sure you have all info you can have weather wise.

    Cheers,

I have had good and bad days in all conditions encountered, these days I am more convinced that fish, like us prefer to eat at fairly regularly spaced intervals.
Early morning within an hour either side of dawn, just after noon for an hour or so and either side of dusk by about an hour before and two hours afterwards.

Local areas that are influenced by tidal access to fishing grounds will always over ride this, but for the most part dawn is the hottest bite of the day.
