If you havnt gone yet I'd do a bit more homework on Maaroom all you have to do is wait and follow a local out. Only a short trip to top of L gutter then straight across to Aldridge, down to Garrys or up to Ungowa. Garrys is good at high tide but I think Yanky Jacks to Ungowa is the best. If you leave from Maaroom better chance of Island hopping in rough weather, from Maarroom south is pretty open water. Too much water and too little time in that area.
Hope you have a great trip.

The trip to Garry's Anchorage was pretty straight foreward my wife navigated from Beacon to Beacon we headed to a red beacon just south of Snout Point then followed the beacons up to Garry's.

Boonooroo caravan park is a good place to put up tent then drive around to Tuan boat ramp. It's a concrete double ramp with a anchorage there
& some big boats were anchored there.

The creek out is a bit like a z shape but well marked. We got a track on the GPS & never had a problem even when we had a night fish. Hope it helps.
    Hi Bj.
Thought we'd let you know how our trip to Great Sandy Strait went.
We followed your information to a T and had a great time.
(Funny thing, we were searching for the Red Beacon and thought we could see it in the distance, kept heading for it and it turned out to be someone wearing a very bright red jacket fishing from a tinny). It was then that we could see the Red Beacon and followed the beacons through Gary's Anchourage then right up to the South White Cliffs (taking a short cut which we saw another boat take). The wind blew up so we turned to head back taking shelter in Gary's anchorage for a cuppa, then headed back to Tuan via Bolts Gutter.
It was a great adventure, we really appreciate your information.

The Caravan Park shocked us a bit charging $24.50 a night for a no power Tent Site and we couldn't even drink the water. We went up to the community hall to get water in bottles from the rain water tank.
Nice park otherwise. Absolutely amazed at the differences in tidal movements, from water everywhere on high tide and mud flats on low tide.

Your information was spot on Thank you very much.

    Debro & Bazza.

Thanks for your info Elprez. I did'nt see it until today. Yep we have been.
    See my message to Bj.
It was a very interesting area to visit. Great to see a lot of water between boats. Bit of a change from what we have on the Gold Coast and Noosa.
We'll go back again oneday to do some more relaxing adventure in this area.

    Many thanks
    Debro

Although it looks like a fair hike from Tin Can Bay to Gary's anchorage it really isnt that far at all.
Our boat only does 26knots and it wouldnt even take us 30minutes to get there.
Make sure you look at your map cause there are sand bars everywhere. Also would be a good idea to carry a spare prop. There are heaps and heaps or turtles up there.

Good to hear Debro, when you head up next if your interested in sight seeing head up the creeks, deep, ceratodus bluff and see the steam and blind barge wrecks, logging slips etc from that time, you can even see remains of light rail tracks sticking out from the high sand cliff banks, as well as catch fish of course.
    Cheers
