    Fish On Marine

I have been shopping about for a while for some new electronics, for two boats actually as I shopped for a mate as well. I like to research things pretty well and had some time up my sleeve this winter so I really went into it on the net and with local dealers.

I was negotiating with Pat at Fish On Marine in the US and I would have to say, dealing with them is a pleasure. They LOVE Australian business, will make sure anything is compatible to here, express delivery, answered every question I posed in full straight away (and I think I pushed the limits there, I changed my mind about twenty times) yada yada yada.

In short, give them a go. He was not the cheapest, but very close to it! The price was less than half here but to be honest it was the service that won me, first class. I am not associated with them just giving them a good rap because they deserve it.

And they sponsor us here too.

    Thanks Pat.

it's a shame that we (Australians) have to purchase products such as these from overseas stores.

With our current Aussie $$ we shouldn't be paying any more than what the US charges us.

I bought my Lowrance from Fishon and i just wish i could receive service like that locally.

    Re: Fish On Marine

I HAD to buy my LXC 38C HD from the US as Lowrance Oz don't & won't import them.

I got mine back in November when the Oz$ was down & for under $2100 AUD The LCX 37C was $4500 here at the time. Same unit without HD.

I still get my full warranty.

I've also found that a lot of Ozzie dealers don't have a bloody clue about sounders.

The blokes at Lowrance Oz are good from my experience.

All very interesting, as far as i am aware'true' Lowrance dealers in the US risk losing the 'dealership/franchise' by selling to Australia. So, as i see it, basically you are buying from an eBay type seller with no warranty unless covered by the seller.

Can anyone shed any light on this??

did a quick search & found this..

A few items are now aproaching parity but I will probably get my 7200 from Scuba Steves. I will save about $250.00 and get it delivered to my door. Its my choice to do so and save enough for a new outfit in the process. I'm not really sure where the ego and wank factor fits in the process as I think its just an opportunity to save a few $

[quote=battler1;869119]Once Again i just rang Bia's Tingalpa LCX27 $1449.00 HELLO GlobalMap 7200C $969.00 HELLO You Guys are on Drugs sure no Chart In this price but the chart cost $285.00 so you saved Sh*t and i am sure the Guys at Bia's will give you a better price if you push them i just rang on the phone and never asked for any special price this is there standard price ! So the $1039 US price is the same price here when you add GST Freight & WHEN IT FAILS YOU DON'T HAVE TO SEND BACK TO US SO WAKE UP & SUPPORT THE LOCAL GUY ! MATE do your SUMs $1039 works out dearer than the price you have posted below ! like i said WAKE UP

    Joe quote=battler1]

    BIAS: $1449 + $285 = $1735 + Delivery

    As opposed to: $1160 + Delivery. Usually AUD$100 = $1260

I figure it's a saving of at least $400 plus you get excellent service.

Contrary to a lot of popular belief Lowrance products purchased internationally DO NOT have to be sent to country of original purchase & will carry Australian Warranties.

DR, prior to me purchasing from overseas I contacted Lowrance head office & asked the question regarding warranty etc. Been around long enough to cover my arse with such amounts of money involved.

Lowrance Australia will cover these items.

Too many rumours to the contrary flying around from those who've never even asked or have asked and been given answers from know-alls in forums who haven't got a clue what they're talking about.

I've never asked a question in a forum yet but I'e laughed at a lot of answers!

    Re: Fish On Marine

Bottom line - we pays our money, we takes our choice!
    And take responsibility for it!
I'd suggest that perhaps the dropping of Aus prices on some marine electronics items is due to sites like this where info is shared.............a combination of 'people power' and 'market forces'.
    ie business at work!
    Cheers from a small businessman!
