Re: Blank For a Light Spin Rod????

P.M hi i have just had a graphite u.s.a blank made up in a b70m especially for placies for light ofshore work and it is a very capable rod it is 7 ft with a fast taper ,it has great feel and is very powerful in the butt section . I am so impressed with it my mate has now ordered the b70lxf which is 7 ft light spin with an xtra fast taper ,this will be my bay and river rod that my 2500 certate is going on . I put titanium nanolite guides on but i dont thing this extreme is needed but they are very good also i have used fuji butt sections . I bought everything from mudhole in the states there prices are incompareable the b70m with all guides and reel seat came in under $200 i think the blank alone for the b70lxf was only $63 us . Maybe if a couple of you are buying blanks you could do it together as they will charge $50 for delivery of one or five blanks i think . They sell all sorts of blanks but i really like the graphite u.s.a ones myself ,i hope this helps ...matt
A bad days fishing has got to be better than any day at work......

    Pacific Composites Ultraspin 2000 - 6'6" 1-2kg

You can build a whole rod on Fuji 'O' ring guides well under a hundred dollars if you shop around (www.therodworks.com.au has great pricing on the blank, www.ozrods.com.au has great pricing on the guides)

I personally have caught Kingfish to 55cm on my version of this rod which is butt extended to make it 7'2" and two handed for really belting out the little 10-20g metal lures - yes I built it purely as a UL Offshore Pelagics rod. Another 6'6" version I have built has landed kings to 57cm (a mate on my boat). I have also caught countless tuna to 2kg, Salmon to 2.5kg, Trevally to 2kg etc etc etc on this blank. Really pushed you can run about 1kg of drag over this rod if needed so it really does have the balls for an UL when it is needed.

Although I have never built one, the Batson SB720 would also be a sweet rod (I have built on SB843) and would reduce postage costs from Ozrods. Also ask Simon for his good cork tube or rings if you want to go that way. They are a LOT better than the Fuji tubes, and cheaper too.
