Bluefin Bowrider Electric Motor
Hi guys
I have recently changed boats and am now looking to get the new boat ready to fish some comps by fitting an electric motor. Problem is... I'm not sure what shaft length I require.
I have a Bluefin 5.25 Bowrider and that I am yet to launch, but ideally I woud like to get the boat ready soon and I don't see myself launching it before I buy the motor (unless I absolutely have to)
On my Dory I used a RT55AP with a 54" shaft, but I don't know if a 54" shaft will do for this boat. I am looking to buy a 80lb 60" shaft unit, but they seem hard to come by. Jarvis Marine list them but don't import them, and MotorGuide have 75lb wireles unit that is 60" but I'm unsure about the MG due to some feedback I've read on them.
Does anybody know if a 54" shaft will be long enough for this boat? Either by personal experience or knowing someone who had one as it would be a whole lot easier for me. What I can tell you is the distance from the top of the bow to the trailer is 49", but I'm not sure how far below the waterline that would be to know if a 54" would suit.
Anyway... any help any of you guys could give me would be great.
Thanks heaps
Gaff
