Thread: Johnson props

    Johnson props

    Hi
Just wondering whether a 13 spline prop off a 1970's motor will fit a 1999 motor with the 13 splines?

I do not think it would be a good idea as the older prop most likely will not have a rubber bushing to protect your gearbox from impacts or out of tune vibrations of the prop.
It may fit but it would not be worth the risk.

Just take off your prop and try it. If you're unsure, changing a prop is something you should be able to do , in case you ever need to.(I have needed to lots of times). As long as the major and minor diameter of the splines are the same and the props length and position on the spline are the same it'll go on.
We are talking about the same HP (and therefore gearcase size) motors aren't we??
