    Darkside Flatty

Well bait hadn’t been going so well lately, so I decided on a lure session last nite. Yes, back to the darkside….I am a bit ac/dc on lures and bait. Threw a few larger SPs and HBs around a deep hole, did a few trolls, but nothing was around the deep. Then I moved into a canal and threw Atomic 4in Prongs at a well lit jetty. It didn’t take long before I felt a tap, tap, and this 70cm flatty came aboard for a photo and release. I took it easy on light gear, 6kg braid and 10lb leader. A lil 30cm one was keen to chew on the big prong too, aren’t they greedy for lil tackers?

The weather was perfect around the Broadwater, and I might have to leave the bait at home more often.

Didn’t get abused or kicked for trolling either.

    cheers
    Andrew

Good one mate, were you using the new Atomic Guzzlers or the old atomic's?

Can't complain about that Andrew, but it's not a jewie .I think most would say you've returned from the darkside!

    Nice catch there...
Do you use HB's at night trolling?
How do you reckon a Mann's S 5+ would go on the troll at night?
or would the 10+ be the go?

Simon, old prongs, you can see it in the pic on the mat. Havent seen the new ones yet, but I like anything from Atomic so I will get some.

RKH, Yes troll at night. Fish can see fine a night, they love the rattlers too. Manns are good lures, I have a 20+. Just pick one to suit the depth. I was using 20ft frenzy mullet HB cos I was working in 30 ft of water looking for jew. Ive had more luck trolling 3in HBs at 1m depth for Trevors. Depends on what your hunting for.
