i am currently running a marine pro 600 battery to power my 55lb electric motor on my 4meter boat but the charge is running out to quick can you suggest another battery that will do the trick and what i can do with the current battery since i just brought it and it is brand new.
From a quick search it would appear you're running a battery designed as a start battery. Good for high current in short burst to start a motor. You need a deep cycle battery to get the req'd run time you want. If the shop sold it to you as being a suitable battery for powering your bowmount, take it back ! Get your money back and go somewhere else. (I would anyway after such poor advice) However if you bought it thinking it was the battery fo the job, keep it charged and use as a spare starting battery or sell it.
I just bought an "Exrider Plus DC31MF" deep cycle, sealed calcium battery, 100ah capacity for just over $200 from my local Alco Batteries agent. Im yet to use it as my motor hasn't arrived yet, so I can't say if its a good one or not, but for the price, expected life and ease of care, I couldnt find better.
There are many many batteries to choose from. Expect to spend anywhere from $160 for a smaller calcium battery to over $400 for top of the range AGM 160Ah deep cycle, but it will weigh about 50kg and run your motor for a couple of days fishing. With proper care and the right charger, most battery will last 4-5 yrs, the top of the range battery, maybe 6-8 yrs if looked after properly.
