what to get...
ok i am rwally starting to look around at boats now but need a bit more of an alrounder for hitting the reefs for snapper to going fish a few more bream tournimens and getting up the little creeks inserch for jack. i have 20k to spend on whole rig but no more!
would like to run 60hp 4 stroke but can get the motor myself. a quintrex topender would have been the first thing i would have gone for but its simply to expensive.
also been looking at some poly's and a 439 stacer nomad.
if anyone has any other suggestion please let me know
im thinking of holding of until the boat show to get a even better deal

G'day
How about one of the mako's or bluefins?
Both good reputations with good experiance behind them
How about a good second handy?

Re: what to get...
There are a stack of really good boats for sale on Boat point and the trader
I know of a Mako Truck for sale for around $8-9k, only a 40 on the back but trade it in on a later, bigger model 4 stroke and you have a pretty decent set up
Remember if you go to big and a heavier 4 Stroke IMO you are going to need more that your average 55lbs Electric, particularly if you are fishing Bream Tournys

Also have a gander at Seascape (Currumbin Marine are a dealer)...was out in one a few months ago....nice ride, and appear to be well made.

Don't know if your going to find a boat that suits all of your requirements perfectly though...

Re: what to get...
I had the same dillema, and couldnt find a solution.
The first thing you need for tournaments is a bow mount electric. So that rules out all runabout style/windscreen boats.
I got a side console 4.1 Allycraft 35hp, and it gets outside on a good day, but it has low sides and takes water if the swell is side on. So I compromised, cos I found a great second hand boat for under 10k, and 95% of my fishing is in calm water.
If I had your budget, I would get a second hand Centre Console around 4.5-4.7m, as they have higher sides for outside work, and will be fine for lure fishing in the rivers.

Re: what to get...
i already fish tounies but i would like something a bit faster, i just sold my 390 quintrex hornet with sounders leccy all the gear and there is no point selling that and spending another 4k and only getting a 40hp.
a 60hp 4 stroke is what im after and a boat like a quintrex topender style.
im really looking for something arount the 4.35-4.50.
all im looking for is a boat as i can get the rest of the gear myself.
is there anyother boat brands that make something similar to the quinny topender...?

Re: what to get...
Look around at what the other guys in the tournaments are using, talk to them. You've said before that you want something built to survey to commence your own business. If that's still the case, your choices off the shelf are going to be severely limited unless you build.

Re: what to get...
If you want a boat like the Topender, Id go the Horizon Northerner or the Bluefin Mangrove Jack.
Horizon factory is at Currumbin, check their website, theres also a few of both boats on boatpoint.

Re: what to get...
Breamnut,
i was chasing something like you mentioned a couple of years ago. i ended up buying 510 c/console quinnie but changed the console to suit me. it is smaller in height & width to give me some room to move around. i don't fish tournaments but she's goes ok on either bay, outside or up the creek. she's also been to monduran amongst the timber. at the end of the day mate, the biggest thing i learned was to take ya time and as mentioned in previous posts, look at all options.
kev.

Re: what to get...
the rear mounted centre console 4.50 drifter polycraft could be a good option. they make them to survey as an option and you can just order it without motor and get your stuff put on elsewhere.

Re: what to get...
You may or may not have seen this one?
Item:
Quintrex 450 Top Ender with all standard top ender inclusions plus extras inc. Lowarnce sounder, custom made high quality binimi top, factory dual battery set up with isolation switch and 2 century marine pro batteries. Extra factory fitted rope cleats and genuine lean seat. The hull was also delete paint optioned at the time of build (3 months wait) This a genuine top ender without paint.
Powered by a 2007 60hp E.F.I four stroke Yamaha with electric start, trim and tilt and electronic trolling control.
Trailered on a genuine Quintrex disc braked trailer with walk plank, strap winch, alloy wheels inc.spare, fibreglass guards and flip down jockey wheel.
This rig is all April 2007 model, is one owner with all books and documentation (inc original purchase receipts). It has done approx 30hrs, has been washed and dried after every use, the trailer has never been dunked (The boat launches with the bottom of the tyres just in the water), and has been stored in a locked shed since day one. This rig presents as and is as new.
I had this boat built to use for a bit of lure trolling and casting. As I have 2 boats, no time, no room left in the shed and the Top Ender is used the least it would suit me to sell it.
