Turned up at the morton bay snapper comp only to find it wasnt the r to m (who would have 2 comps on the same weekend) anyho covered a lot of water on the weekend and biggest fish was 40cm to the falk and filleted it up thinking it was to small to pull a first in the bay. Got to the weigh in and a 5.9 kilo horse was the offshore best and saw the bay was only 1.1kilo and at that time i realized i had thrown the comp by underestimating my fish. As i watched a new comer take the trophy knowing my fish was bigger it made me feel a bit empty but you learn new tricks every day and that one was a big one knowing how hard it was to pick up a good fish with saturday being blowy and sunday being alright but not producing a good fish on the week end it was just a good weekend spent with my brother chasing my favourite fish. Anyway theres always next year. Cheers to all that went out on the both comps and cant wait to see what the r to m has come up with.
Yer, must hav been a very tough weekend!!!!!!!!
I did a similar thing at the R2M M&G. I caught a 46cm squire on the Saturday afternoon and thought it would not come close to winning anything so I released it determined I was going to catch a PB. Caught loads of squire with a lot of them legal size but was there for the big ones and let everything go. Back at the presentation I was mortified to know I let a potential prize winner go. Never mind, it was all in good fun and I had a ball just being there. I like them to be 50cm or bigger before they end up in my esky. Always next year.
Poodroo
He who aims at nothing is sure to hit it.
Feel your pain fellas. I should have entered the R2M, didn't cause it looked like i wasn't going to get out over the weekend. In the end i got out and caught a fish that would have won it for the plastics.
Whatta you do? Still, i shouldn't complain, at least i got a nice bend in my rod
yeah, same, i gotta 63cm snapper out in front of redcliffe, sourrounded by kayakers and tinny rats in the comp, spewing they were when i caught what looked like the only fish in the area!!!
cheers, can do
