a weekend of up's and down's

i started my assault on maroochy on friday arvo at the mouth of the river. i was looking for tailor on fly but as i was walking to the spot i triped and fell and smashed my fly reel (nooooo) so i and to run back to the car verry p$ssed off and grab the spin rod. i got to my spot and as the tide rose, i found a small patch of chopper to shred my plastics. i nailed 2 small ones about 35cm but got hit and shredded by heaps of others untill the hot glue on my rod tip came unstuck and could not be put back on as the blob of glue was gorn so that ended my fishing grrrrrrr .as i was leaving there was some old dude there that had been smashing them so i got a few good tips off him and wish him luck as i left.
SATURDAY. i started at 10 am in the maroochy cannals chasing bream and had on the gulp shrimpys and on the first jetty bang a stubbon little bream pops up hehehehe. the next jetty bang im on again to a nother runt. this happend again and again untill the toadies had got the better of my last shrimp so i had to change plastik. i tryed a gulp turtle back worm with a stinger and only got 1 small bream out of 4 jettys so a nother change was on the cards. on went the old fathfull power minnow and strait away i started catching bream again. then once i worked i full side of the cannal and the jettys thined out, i changed to a rmg baby scorpion that i did some modifying to, and on its first trial bang zzz a nice 52cm flattys skoffes my hb. i then got a small whiting and a nother small bream then the jettys started again so on went a verry old atomic prong that pistol pete gave me a long time ago and what do ya know it worked and i nailed 7 more bream on it untill crunch zzzzzzz o my zzzzzz pilong nooooo snap grrrr. i then had a blow out on my thong so i was tripping over heaps of crap walking back to the car. i nailed a few more runts on the power minnow on the way so with a total of 32 bream 1 whiting and 3 flattys i left happy but still a bit frustrated with the size of the bream, 32cm was the biggest.
SUNDAY. i fished twin waters in search of bigger bream, i got there and the water was verry dirty, i still had the power minnow on and i cast out and bang zzzzzz DROP nooooo, the jig head was blunt from the day befor. i new it was going to be tuff going with the plastics so i looked for some insparation in my tackle box and found not to much, iv lost all my good hard bodys so the only thing that looked like it work in the conditions was a predateck min min deep but that dives way to deep and the action is way to aggresive but then i remembered the mod that they do with the chubbie deeps so i sat at the water's edge and grinded down the bib on some cement and i got is looking pritty sweet in no time. i cast out to try my handy work and it was swimming awsome and strait, yesssss. then the unbeliveabul happend, i was fishing on a sand flat about 1.5m deep and i felt a crunch and line started peel off my sol. 4 mins later i have a 53cm black spoted rock cod at my feet, the biggest iv caught on 6lb leader and 3lb braid and i was stoked. i gave that spot a few more casts but all the bream had been spooked from the one i droped on the placky so i moved to my lucky bridge and bang yessss i nailed a nice whitting. then next cast right in the middle of the cannal and bang yeeehaa a nice bream of 30cm came to play. time to hit the other side of the bridge. cast in , reel reel reel bang zzz zzz zz yess a nother nice 29cm bream. i got a nother 7 more bream from all my spots and nailed a nice flatty just under 60cm that woofed the lure right down its gob and i was verry lucky to get him in but the fc rock leader held up sweet. i got snaged 3 times and had to go swimming as i was not going to loose my new favoret lure to a rock and once i then had hit all my spots i thort of giving my lure a good work out in kawana.
i got to one of my spots and worked the hole bank and did not get a hit so off went my modifide mid min hehe and on went squidgie bug in coral and after a working my way back to the car i got 2 more small flatones then the rain set in so i chucked it in. my cam is deffanetly stuffed from the rain two weeks ago so no pics of any thing for a wile guys untill i can get a new one.

awesome report nuggstar, sounds like the bream are out in force, hopefully i can get out soon and smack em.

thanks keechman. i was going to try your trick with the prong of making it smaller but it was working fine as it was untill that stonker got me on the ruff stuff. ya just cant stop them once they get over 38cm

bugger all mate. im useing the nitro owner bream pro hooks and cutting them down to make them hiddon wight jigs, the 1\24 and 1\32 are perfect for this in size 2. just look in the old posts in the tackel section of this site and look up nuggstars breaming tips and i show ya how to do it there. i did not do my next part of my bream tips as my cam is shot and i cant get any pics up of what im doing but as soon as i get a new cam, there will be a heap more bream tips being put up.

Nice work nugg, I'm beginning to think we jinx each other mate, we both seem to do better when we fly solo. Might have Saturday morning free for another sesh. Nice work to land the cod on such light trace.

nice haul nuggs , you'll have to go and stock up on lures buy the sound of it . i got a little sony digital camera send me a pm if you are interested i got a better camera and im not useing it .
Will you be up noosa way at xmas or are you going away ? im keen on getting up there with the boat a bit over xmas and will probly be looking for a deckie if your interested .

Good read Nugg ..... with a couple of decent captures & a bucket load caught , you cant complain ....... except for the busted fly reel ... Ouch!
