moving a transducer

Hey guys,
The new boat has a furuno FCV-585 sounder and an Eagle Fishstrike 1000c sounder/plotter combo.
Now, the Eagle sounder/plotter was installed first and has the transducer mounted on the starboard side.
The main sounder now though of course is the furuno - problem is it's transducer is now mounted on the port side and gets alot of interference from the prop at speeds over 10 knotts.
How can I swap the transducers around? The holes in the hull (plate boat) are litterally only as thick as the cables...
Do I physically take the transducers apart, unattach the wires, re-route then re-attach the wires?
Or do I do it at the other end (The unit connection end). I know cutting/re-soldering the wires is a bad idea and I want to avoid this solution obviously

Is there enough spare cable inside the hull to allow you to swap transducer locations without cutting cable? Can you pull cable out & simply change sides?

Yes, there is enough cable, and no I cant just pull it out. Remember, on one end of both cables is a transducer and the other end has the display unit connections.
The hole in the hull is only as thick as the cable itself.

By pulling it out, I mean pulling out spare cable. Just enough to allow you to change sides. The supplied cable is usually longer than the run to your electronics & this "spare " cable is usually coiled under the dash, transom or gunnel.

I think peter means, swap the trannys by means of cables
running across the back of the boat ???
Would look messy though !!! IMO

Mate if yo are going to disconnect wires in a tranducer make sure yo get a pro to do it remember it has to keep water out and transducers are not cheap

It might pay to find out who installed them initially & how they went about it.

If it goes in it has to come out ........ somehow!
