Spent a few hours on the water at Lake Maroon this morning...Didnt get on the water until 9am due to family commitments, but still powered off feeling a little optimistic.
The dam looks terrific now it has a decent water level...being able to fish the timber again brought back memories of years ago.
We threw anything and everything...divers, TN60s', TN50s', spinnerbaits of many different colours and blade configs, plastics of all sorts and fly. All that for one half assed hit that wouldnt of scared a dragonfly.
Found plenty of small schools and so on, but they just could not be tempted. Water temp was in the 14s' throughout the day, so maybe that has something to do with it. Also there is a blue/green algae bloom in spots and the ever nasty sylvinia is trying hard to take hold throughout the dam.
Slightly dissapointing fish wise, but the highlight of the day was seeing a huge eagle take a waterhen off the water...simply awesome stuff. Really opened my eyes up.
