the stuff i got was bulky plano tackle trays took about 3 months
I too have imported plenty of stuff in fact i even import for a living so I know the difference between surface and air , but i telling you of my experience with cabelas, my last order was about 4 weeks ago sent as surface arrived about 1 week later, this is not the first time, i don't buy $1000 and $1000 worth of stuff at a time usually not more then $200 and usually little non bulky stuff like lures hook weights etc etc i cant get here and every time i have checked the surface mail option it has arrived within about 2 weeks. Cabelas is certainly not my number one choice buying overseas but they do have a few things that can be hard to get else where.

Perhaps what Cabellas call surface as opposed to UPS & USPS are totally different.
Surface is boat & air is air, simple as that. Cabellas may be using a marketting ploy to allow people to think they are getting a good deal with shipping when in fact they are being ripped off in the 1st instance.
Check UPS & USPS websites which is who actually handle mail not Cabellas.
Mate the one thing I do know is What Im buying how much it is costing me to buy and how much postage Im paying before it leaves the States .......I definatedly know Im not being ripped off....If people feel they are being ripped off whats their point of buying O/S.......Whitto
My Cabelas orders have been on the doorstep within two weeks using the cheaper surface mail option. Ohbviously the are flown into Aust and then get a lower priority delivery

Greetings all!
Bought a Baitrunner 6500B, recently.
$119 on Cabelas site. Cheapest I could find.
Came to about $135 Aussie at the time. Final price was $165 Aussie after surface postage.
The reel took 2 weeks to deliver.
Shipping time unusual! High speed motor boat?!
Shipping charge took the gloss off a very good bargain! Still! The cheapest 6500B I could find.
Regards, Rob.
Ballina.
By the way 2manylures, what contacts or sites?
Better than $119 for a 6500B?
Tell us?
Not having a go.

And the sites mate?
Where are these good deals?
Sounds sensible on the postage if you've got a mate in the US.
Rob, Ballina.
The US postal service have discontinued surface mail so you can pretty much rule that out as an option, maybe they have another carrier for surface shipment but I always had small parcels arrive in seven days at surface mail rates.
My downrigger and some bulky rodholders however took a full three months to arrive.
The 6500's are 179 in aus, 14 bucks is not a great saving when you consider you could ask an asmart store to beat it by 10%. Not having a dig, just letting the price be known.

Hi
Brought some braid and a few lures 2 weeks ago, ticked surface mail and too 6 days to arrive. I would guess delivery time & price would depend on size of package as postage was said to be 20% but came to only 15%.

Update for those interested:
Because I used a differant shipping address to the billing address (wanted the package to go to the missus shop so that I knew it was delivered), there was a delay of about 2 weeks while Cabellas snail mailed me a letter asking if I was aware my credit card was being used to order goods, once I jumped on the email and sorted that out, goods arrived in approx 8 days (hard to tell, bloody missus forgot to tell me the box had arrived for a couple of days, talk about not prioritizeing!!!)
Substantial cost saveings, even after deliverey fees, and yes, I clicked the surface mail option, if my deliver and bill adress's were the same, it would have saved a little time, but still, in the these days of credit card fraud, Im glad they checked.
cheers
