    Pick a colour

I am in the process of buying a new boat {at last}.and I am considering a painted hull.I would like to here from members about the colours of their boats such as, are dark colours a pain in the bum to look after ,keep clean ,show scratches or other drawbacks or is white the best colour

depends what boat it is stik. up the creeks it mightn't matter much but offshore i'd want something white or yellow for maximum visibility. you never think about how pretty the colour is if someone can't see you easy and runs ya over. also from the aspect of being rescued, you'll be heaps easier to see from above if you are white or yellow.

The side can be any colour you like as long as you've got a fair bit of white or a light colour that can be seen from an approaching vessel or from above. Next time I get mine repainted I think I'll go for something metallic. Just check out gregs post on his new riptide that he had built, that paintwork looks trick.

I like the look of Black sides on a cabin vessel. keeping the topside white and the underneath white. Just looks a bit classier.

Mine is white however it still shows up the stone chips from trailering on unsealed roads.

I often think that a bare hull would mask the chips a little better.

the only other thing with having white is its easy to touch up then the other colours. i saw a plate boat that had been painted blue or something one time, but he didnt paint on the inside or anywere where your more proned to knock the paint of with sinkers and anchors and that was quite smart i thought and would do it if i ever bought another new boat.

I saw a orange sea scape the other day and it looked really sporty. If you are going to buy a boat you should be pround of it and make it stand out from the rest.

mine is white, but before ordering it i pondered the exact question until the sales man talked me out of it saying that the stone chips would show up more etc. also after a while the darker coloured paint will fade anyway.
