    Frazer Island Hook Point

Hi Can Anybody Help And Tell Me If Hook Point Is Closed To Traffic Or Not? And How Long Is The Inland Road And Is It Rough? As You Would Expect From The Ammount Of Traffic. Any Advice Before I Plan The Trip.
    Thanks Jim

    Re: Frazer Island Hook Point

    Mate,

I was up there at the begining of April.

Hook Point was open and passable, but a number of fallen trees meant it was only feasible an hour each side of low tide.

On the run up the island we had to take the inland road. Full length from the barge landing to Dili Village is about 18kms. However there are tracks down to the eastern beach at regular intervals.

If you take the inland road make sure everything is well secured as the corrugations will give everything a good shake.

If at all possible avoid the inland road.

    Jim.

I didn't find the inland road too bad earlier this year. Heaps better than when I last used it a few years back.

Hook Point is open - aim for 2 hours eitherside of low and u should be right! The barge operators will be able to give u an update on accessing the point.

Just be aware around the point there are speed limits in place to protect the birds - look for the signs hard up against the dunes. These are regularly enforced by the police too - so do your best to keep to them even though it may appear no one is around!
    just one more cast........
