Hit the water very early Wed morn for some River 2 Mud M&G practice, the closed ramp at Pinkenba meant I had to use Whyte Isl for the 1st time in years, boy you southsiders are spoilt. Started about 4am chasing snapper around some of my old spots in the river (bit dodgy in the high traffic areas before sunrise). Pulled 3 nice ones between 50 & 60cm and was blown away twice on 5" Lindy Old-Baysides. Once the sun rose I used a technique picked up off "Plaztix" (thanks mate) and hit the deeper water with a Mask Vib. I love using these lures in the freshwater and wasn't keen on losing one of my favourites so I tied on a crappy colour that had never caught a thing. Pulled a 65 that almost stiched me up so I switched the lure to the 12lb outfit. No joy for the next 30 mins and decided to head home before the traffic got too bad (even pulled the electric up) when I got solid hit. I struck and the fish ran hard & deep, but too slow for a snap. After the 1st run it dogged it out below the boat and although I was praying for a jewie I thought it could be a big catty. A few mins later I slid the net under a nice PB jew of 88cms.
