Where can I get some legal crabs for bait - any size will do but I would prefer about cricket ball size? Sunshine Coast area.
    Thanks

when i recently stayed at a resort along bulcock beach right next to the boardwalk my sister was using my soft plastics tied to the actual plastic and she cast it along the rockwall and was catching the crabs, i am unsure on the species as why i didn't try them for bait. Maybe this is an option maybe not, all i can remember is that its good fun lifting them up over the rail and chasing them to put them back in the water.

What about the ghost crabs amongst the sand dunes. Go down at night with a thong and torch (for dead baits) or just a torch and run around like a lunatic catching them. Warm you up on these cold nights and the kids have a fat old time.

yaroomba rocks has lots of crabs. their the black and green ones with purple nippers that grow to the size of a cricket ball. i gave them a go and smashed a heap of bream and happy moments with them. i was cutting them in half and useing them on a 1'0 mustad big red hook

There has to be soldier crabs somewhere close by...... but I've never seen one as big as acricket ball.

Ive seen biguns about the size of a 20c piece, but most are smaller.

most sandy flat beaches should have some somewhere.
    wynnum
    thompsons
    sandgate
    redcliffe

there were so many on sandgate beach when i was a kid it looked like the whole beach was moving..... frightened the $###t out of a 2 year old.

    cheers
