............
can anyone else running a 5.2 with a different set-up give some performance numbers to compare? just for interests sake
darren, nice boat mate! what honda's did you have before hand?
Dean,
Im running 14" S/S Vengeance props.
After coming in the pin today on an outgoing tide with a full load, i'd definately recommend some 13's or even 12's. It lacks punch to get up high on the back of a wave with the 14's, so the 15's will be even worse. Can't stress enough I think you should change down in prop size.
If I was to regularly run the bar in this boat i'd definately go down in prop size from the 14's. Yes, it will pull it back to about 29 knots, but it will be a better rough water boat when on and off the throttles.
Tracker, see the Poly add here http://www.boatpoint.com.au/boats-fo...aspx?R=5976587. I'm negotiable on the price, and would prefer to sell it before the KC.
Chop, I was running two Honda 50's. They just didn't have enough power, so I wanted a change up.
Regards
Darren
Hey Darren
That day i saw you at couran cove i crossed the seaway during the middle of the run out with a huge sea running.! We had a very large pressure wave stand up on that bank behind us and i had enough to break the suck and get over and down the wave i was on ! i figure that i've got enough for most situations but i have been looking at some stainless 13's just to give me a bit more umph in the slop! I'm presently running standard alloy yami 14's that the motor came with!
Ian
Alcohol doesn't agree with me, but i sure do enjoy the argument!!!
Mmm Trent (fly1) tried 13's and his WOT was only 26kts but said it had heaps out of the hole. Im impressed your getting 31kts out of her with 14's. I might get the boys to take a few different props on the day of the water test. Just hope the height is right from the start, sounds like yours is spot on Darren.
Hi Darren,
Thanks for posting the Pic on the steering ,mine has a similar set up but instead of the hyraulic ram it has push pull cable , gives me another option to think about . Have you had any problems with this system ?
Thanks
Again
Fred
Hey Fred,
No dramas really. It is easy and precise to steer both engines.
The ram had to be "rebuilt" a few years ago under different ownership, but other than that it has been no dramas at all.

Darren
Hi Darren,
When you get you Throttle Box sorted out would you be able to send me some pics \ details and contact detail of the people who did it for you as I am Buying my motors next week and fitting won't be to far away and need to organise something. Your help would be appreciated
Thanks
Fred
Fromeo,
No dramas. Cleaning it up a bit more soon and will then post pics.
Mirage, my engines are standard thrust, not high thrust. Personally, I doubt it makes a difference. My engines certainly don't have any performance issues.

Darren
Hey Darren I got my new f 60's on and runnig and they are truly awsome!! So smooth and quiet! When I picked the boat up they were one hole up from the bottom. The boys water tested it and got 5500rpm 26kts. I got them to raise them up( the bottom hole) It was too late to change the 15 pitch prop which was been used. I retested it and got 5700rpm and 29 kts with 2 blokes 50 litres of no gear etc. So ive ordered 14 pitch witch shoud bring the revs up to 6000rpm with a light load, about 5700rpm loaded roughly. I got the smartcraft gauges fitted and they are great! They tell 'exactly' what fuel im using throughout the entire rev range, litres/hr and how much ive used/left etc. They are definately punchier than the old 2 stroke 70's as well so im stoked
Hey dean you'll have to post some photo's and figures when it's all set up right. Curious to see how your top end and cruise figures compare to my 2st 70 johnsons.
Yeah mate will do. If you went for a spin in mine now I think youd be ordering up some of the 60's Chalk and cheese to the 2st 70 yammies I had, you can talk to you crew easily now while motoring as they are soooo quiet. At idle the water tell tale is louder than the mtor itself! And no more 2 stroke fumes When I figure how to load my dig camera photos on here and new props fitted ill put a thread on with fuel figures etc. so far ive found at around 22kts both motors were using 22 litres/ hr compared to about 35 litres/hr with the the 70's. 2 litres for both at idle. Cheers talk soon.
