    Another Kevlacat 5.2 Refurb Thread!

    Hey Guys,

Was asked to post some pics, and I couldn't resist.

Complete with repaint, repower and a clean up, she looks a million bucks.

Sea trial hopefully late afternoon tomorrow after a few little issues get sorted by the mechanics. I will report on the performance when it's done.

Unfortunately due to business commitments, she will soon be up for sale. I have two boats, and the one that sells first will have to go, while I will keep the other (The other has been up for sale for a couple of weeks already, I secretly want it to sell first!)

    It Worked!

    Better pics to come.

Someone also recently asked for pics of the steering set up also.

I can't find that thread anymore, but here is the way the steering is set up.

Looks to me like a manufactured job, not something off the shelf.

    Regards

    Darren

looks sensational mate, but I have to ask - why spend the $$ when you're going to sell anyway? I had thought yours was a sharkcat too - what year kevlacat is it?

    Hey Guys,

Lump, the pics are taken at Coastwide Marine on the Gold Coast. The red boat is a customers boat in for service, plate alloy of some variety.

Az, it's all relative. It's a great boat which will be enhanced by the changes, making it easier to sell and worth more money. The sale is forced due to a new business venture, which was unforseen when the work started on the refurb. It's a 5.2 Kevlacat cuddy, without the trademark windows of the tournament model. It was made in 1994, and built to survey.

Wayne, I got the throttle box manufactured by a local alloy guy here at Labrador. He did a great job, to my specs and design, and only charged me $50. He spent a few hours on the job. How he makes his money is beyond me, so I threw him a bit more for his troubles. It's made from 4mm alloy, I will get some pics when everything is together properly.

She will probably hit the market for mid fifties when ready, and be a great buy, and a great boat.

    Regards

    Alright,

Finally hit the water, albeit a couple of weeks later than planned! The best laid plans.......

She ran like a gem! Im over the moon. Luckily the engine height is perfect, as is the props.

Didn't get out till 8pm last night, so these figures are with the tide in it's last half hour of run.

    Cruise 4200rpm @ 20 knots
    WOT 5600RPM @ 31 Knots

I was hoping for 30 knot performance, so i'm very happy.

Heading out for a real run tomorrow, so will have a better idea then.

    Regards

    Darren

    Lol,

    Thanks Pete.

I barely have room or time for me at the moment.

Hopefully heading to Tangalooma tomorrow for a decent test, then she will be in the yard for sale. Unless I can sell the Polycraft first!

Are you on the water tomorrow?

    Regards

    Interestingly,

There is not that much difference in out of hole performance as to what the Honda's provided.

The difference is in top end and cruise, but it's probably due to prop sizes as well.
