    hi guys putting a new transom on the back thinking about putting a pod on as well any thoughts on the pod i have a 5.2 deep v hull

    2 ways to do it:

    1) full depth pod (hull extension) increases the waterline length of th eboat so your boat becomes "bigger" and the pod supports the weight of the outboard

    2) stepped (non bouyant) pod. Some boats work and many don't. Bit of a gamble and there are many disappointed people out there who have tried. Factors affecting it will be the beam of the boat, the deadrise (vee) and weight distribution. The problem with this design is that there is no support for the engine which is now hanging 600mm behind the back of the boat.

    Bolt on job $700, hull extension $4000+. Bolt on job may work, hull extension will definitely work.
