lowrance GPS problems

Hello

I purchased a Lowrance 520C to replace a troubled 480MS. i purchased it from the US. Lowrance told me i would not have any problem using the antenna (2000) that was already fitted from the 480.

i bought the adaptor and no matter how many times i read the Lowrance encylopedia that came with it i can not get the GPS Module to Respond.

Has anybody had any similar problems or has any tips?

Gday mick have after you connected the new unit did you connected the gps antenna module to power?

As above check to see if you connected the antenna to power and if so check connections.

Yes, fell for this myself. The antenna must have it's own power supply.

The other thing I would check is that you have the latest software installed.
Go here http://www.lowrance.com/en/Downloads...tware-Updates/

Install the latest LGC2000 (version 1.9.0) software FIRST, then install the latest LMS-520C (version 2.3.0) update.

The antenna is hooked up to power. It was already fitted for the 480 i had in the boat. All the connections seem fine. i'll try the software download and see where it gets me.

Hey Mick,
any luck getting your GPS to work?

Mick if that doesn't work try it with a 3000 antenna. Perhaps it's in the adaptor & not meant to be.

Maybe you've been given a bum steer.
