    pine river

Today i took the young fella down to the pine to have a bit of a flick , i wasnt expecting much after the rain but thought it would be nice to get out any way . We started of near the bridge at low tide and worked our way along the rock wall at the quarry , with no luck . So i thought i would try and work the edges of the wrecks since the tide was still slow and see if i could catch one of freedoms jewies , i found the deep wreck and soon as we drifted over the edge i dropped my brand new masked vibe let it hit the bottom lifted it once let it drop and bang on , (first drop of the vibe) after it hit it went straight into the wreck , i tried giving it slack and waiting it out but the fish won , what ever it was it had some speed and wieght to it , and now it has a $25 lip pearcing . We had no more hits after that so we started our drift along the rock wall again , second cast hits the water and im bounceing a red snapback down the rocky drop of when i feel some weight on the end but no movment so i thought i caught a rock but to my surprise there was a 16-20cm stone fish that swallowed my SP . didnt get anything else but it was still a good morning on the water .
    post some pics later.

    cheers nico

    Mate,

Great to see a report from the Pine.

Good news on the day, too bad about the fishing - have to remember to keep my shoes on from now on.

Any idea what trophied your lure?

    Re: pine river

Dear god I feel a chill just looking at that stonefish! My ancient first-aid instructor has treated a few stonefish stings over the years, and he reckons they're more painful than any other sting/bite. He says when people have trodden on one, the pain is so excruciating they beg him to amputate their leg!

That's a bugger about your Mask, always hurts to lose one of those hey!

Thats a bugger about your lure mate My guess is it was a cod, even the little ones around there go like rockets back into their hole

Dam ugly stone fish mate!! At least you got yours in the daytime and could tell it wasn't a rock

    Re: pine river

i put him in a jar of metho so i can take it to the kids school to show them what to look out for when in the water .

dave i am thinking jewie and there is also a thought maybe a jack ,
brandon i think it went to hard and fast for a cod (it is possible) it would have to be the best hook up i have had in the pine , to bad i lost it .

that was the first vibe i have bought , i dont like the idea of paying that much for lure but i have been hearing so much about them lately for the threadies i had to get one and see how good they are , well they work now i can test the transam95 i have in my tackle bag .

    cheers
