    Best Rig for winter whiting

    Hi Guys

what is the best rig for winter whiting? is it a simple single hook or is it better to have the sinker at the bottom with a couple of droppers? What distance from the sinker should these droppers be?

    I use a paternoster rig.
That is ... sinker on the bottom, a swivel about 30 or 40cm above the sinker and another swivel at the top about 30cm above the first swivel. The two swivels help to keep line twist to a minimum. I tie a SHORT dropper, with a number 6 long shank hook attached, off the bottom ring of each swivel.
If your droppers are too long, they will tangle around the main line or each other.
The sinker needs to be heavy enough to stay on the bottom as you drift (but not too heavy) because whiting are bottom feeders.
I use blood worms, squid strips or bits of raw prawn as bait.
There are plenty of whiting out there at this time of year so go and get a feed.
    Good luck.

Winter whiting aye, I use a simple rig - a longshank hook size 10 hooks. 8lb leader going up to a small swivel. After the swivel I have a small ball sinker depending on current, size 2 should do fine. Also for more fish add some small red beads which be bought from leading tackle stores for around $2.50 (I think). For bait if you haven't already thought about this. I like bloodworm, prawn, and squid strips.

Yeah, that probably would be the best way as it's cheap and easy to use; bait jig.
