I use a paternoster rig.
That is ... sinker on the bottom, a swivel about 30 or 40cm above the sinker and another swivel at the top about 30cm above the first swivel. The two swivels help to keep line twist to a minimum. I tie a SHORT dropper, with a number 6 long shank hook attached, off the bottom ring of each swivel.
If your droppers are too long, they will tangle around the main line or each other.
The sinker needs to be heavy enough to stay on the bottom as you drift (but not too heavy) because whiting are bottom feeders.
I use blood worms, squid strips or bits of raw prawn as bait.
There are plenty of whiting out there at this time of year so go and get a feed.
