Re: Snapper Rod and Rigs?
Thanks to everyone for their input.
Here is how I went....
My dad gave me one of his "boat rods" to use that he rarely uses (it looks brand new).
7' Okuma "Razor Tip" (6-8kg)
I'll use my old Gold Penn reel on it spooled with 15lb mono.
Seeing as I already had permission from the boss to buy a new rod/reel, I stopped in at (you guys will probably put sh1t on me for it) #### ######### on the way home from work.
I found a rod/reel combo that they had put together as a clearance item marked at $105 Sounded like a bargain to me (it rung up on the register at $99) BONUS!.
The rod is a Silstar 7' "Power Tip Snapper Stick" 8-10kg
The reel is an Okuma Endurance EDB60 with a "baitrunner" style 2nd drag system. I'm putting 20lb mono on it.
I figure the combo will come in handy chasing Spaniards off the Sunny Coast later in the year as well as extra firepower should we stumble onto some of the larger variety of Bay Snapper.
The weather is not looking too good for the bay this weekend but I will be getting out the 1st chance I get. I'll put up a post and let you know how I went.
Thanks again to everyone for thier advice.
Cheers,
Ben
