Berkley Gulp Jerk Shad 5" in Nuclear Chicken or Lime Tiger are my out and out favourites. Matched to 3/8oz 3/0 jig heads. They've caught me plenty of big snapper to 8kgs.

I've not been fishing for snapper before but, I can share some plastics that I know are dynamite on the snaps. First off colour in the Berkley Gulp range these colours are brilliant: nuclear chickens, lime tigers, pumpkinseed all should be minnows. To look at the Berkley Gulp range look at this website http://www.###########.com.au/baits/gulp.html. In the Squidgie S Factor range: pilchard flick baits, flash prawn flick bait. These should be a reasonable size around 90-120mm. Also SLAM sp's are brilliant - new on the market too . Good luck on your first snapper. Some URL's to some websites that are very helpful choosing plastics. Squidgie:http://www.squidgy.com.au/tails.html#.

Hey Rob, I've done the nuclear chooks and the pearl whites. Found the pearl whites to be the better option.

    When we going fishing??

Hey mate, Ive had success on bay snapper with 5" Jerk shads in Nuc Chicken, curry chicken, cajan chicken, camo, watermelon, blue pepper neon. I also use 4" minnows in lime tiger.

In the shallow bay areas use a 1/8th or 1/6th 2/O (Nitro) jighead.

If fishing offshore use a heavier jighead and try 7" jerk shads.

I also use gulp 5'' Jerk shads in Nuc Chicken, cajan chicken and saphire shine.
I have noticed a bit of a pattern with the colours. Use dark colours when the sun is overhead. Use bright colours for dusk and dawn or darker waters. Also try and use the lightest weighted jig heads so it holds suspended in mid water. Good luck
