Haven't fished for almost a year...too busy at work, but finally got out today. Just a few hours at the Cockle Banks. Put in at Scarbourough at 7.45am and headed across a glassy bay.
Got a great feed of winter whiting on squid and enjoyed a very close encounter with a huge turtle...biggest one we've seen in 30 years fishing the bay .
Would have gone to shorncliffe but read some good reports of the winteries at the banks on ausfish. Got to love this site .
Hey Tom...I'm a fisherman, it was at least 3 meters across the shell...
no, not really but I do recon that it would have been 170 - 180 cm across the shell, and it was absolutely racing along, must have been chasing something...hopefully nothing is big enough out there to have been chasing it!!
