    Fishing Maroochydore?

    Hey Guys,

Im heading off to Twin Waters in Maroochydore tomorrow for 3 days and am going to take a couple of fishing rods to fish around the Maroochy River (MAP ATTACHED) (is it called maroochy river??) And im just wondering if someone can show me a couple of areas to target according to the map attached. Ive never fished the area and dont have a clue were to start. Ill probably be using a mixture of SP's, HB's and possibly turning over to bait if im not getting any with the lures. Ill be landbased and looking for the common species such as whiting, bream, flathead etc.

    All help appreciated

    Dylan,

Under the Bridge @ Bradman Ave (near the number 6) is probly your best bet. I know a few good fish have been taken from there. By memory i think she drops to about 9 mtrs under the bridge.

Im sure others can help you out but since im first thats all i can help with

just try around where you are staying, there is heaps of bream in the cannals there in twinnies and trevs and baby queenfish and a few big ones as well. try gulp shrimps around the edges, it works for me. twinnies is a big place and it will take you a long time to cover it all. and try the big blue hole at the mouth of the river on the north shore side, some good fish like to sit in there at times.

    Hey,

Thanks for that OICNapster and Nuggstar,

    OICNapster:

What species of fish would be lurking under that bridge?? And seeing its 9m Deep what size jighead for SP's do you recommend?

    Nuggstar:

When you say stay around Twin waters, ive been there before and remember there being what i thought was a lake were the people staying there kayak'd etc. Is this the canal you are talking about or somewhere different?

Any more help will be greatly appreciated

Look to where the the mouth of the twin waters canal system meets the maroochy river. There's a weir there, it's a good starting point for you to explore the system and you can also walk out from there and try your luck. Get there at the last hour of the rising tide and fish through the change, if it's a big tide you're in for a treat as the water runs through there like crazy. Best of luck.

    Hey Guys,

Ive just discovered that We are staying at Twin waters resort which i believe is about 1km east of 'twin waters' which is a suburb i guess and that had me confused. So now looking at the map attached Where im staying is on the top right of the screen (close to the beach), and the area that is being spoken about is in the top centre part of the map. I'll start of near that weir connecting to the maroochy river and then just walk the banks (Is this easy) casting Gulp Shrimps, Atomic Prongs, SX40's etc....

Imnotoriginal, you say that if there is a large tide that the water will rush through there quickly, do you recommend a heavy jighead if this is the case???

    Thanks Guys!!

Try near your hotel/resort. There are always bream where there is structure. If there are any flats/pylons/anchored boats, they're a good start if you'e new to a spot. Anyway good luck and catch lots of fish

The lakes around the resort hold pleny of fish, (Personally I wouldn't eat them though)...you may be surprised in there!

Also try the beach, plenty of gutters along there now and has been fishin quite well.

The hole under the bridge is the Cod Hole, difficult to fish form the bank I think? Need a boat or swim to the first pilon if your that keen....its always packed out around there, if VERY pateint can be rewarding.
