Hello everyone, I am a newbie and I am hoping someone can shed some light...What's the go with the soft plastics. If I use "real" bait I catch fish. I have never succeeded beyond bites with plastics, it seems as if as soon as fish, in the Hawkesbury, and beyond taste them they spit 'em.
And while I am imposing on you all for enlightenment, can anyone tell me if anyone knows what the half eaten plastics do the fish and the environment. They can't be digested harmlessly by the fish can they?
not sure on the digestive issue Dhutchy, but i disagree on the sp's being a repellant. It took me a long time to get used to it, im talking 6 weeks of flicking plastics every afternoon without a decent hookup. But i can usually out fish my mates using "real Bait" with my gulp, in the river or the reef. Tried everything the other day on the reef with a buddy using bait. I bagged out snapper on sp's and all he got was pinkies. Im a huge fan now. Its a fair question about the digestion but. I know they are biodegradable.

Keep trying mate they definately work ,i have been useing them exclusively for 4 yrs and have caught a great variety of fish and all my P.Bs have come on them . Have a search through the site and you will find more info on them than you could ever read ,keep going once you get the hang of it you wont turn back ...matt
A bad days fishing has got to be better than any day at work......
They are supposed to be biodegradable, the newer ones anyway, although I had some older ones once that had a warning that they contained a chemical known to cause cancer in humans. Just a generic warning I suppose. Binned those ones
