Camping - North Shore (Cherry Venture)

    Hi Everyone

About ten years ago the family used to do many weekends up the beach camping, some of the best times ever I must admit. Well any way we are now down to just the two of us and we are going to get back up to the beach. Trying to find out what the entances are like coming onto the beach and if all the entrance tracks are still open. The best one I remember was going up pass the winderness camping area to get onto the beach. I still remember to travel approx 32Kms on the beach to get my favourite spot.

Any information or updates will be greatly appreciated.

Same deal. Was up there yesterday. The first cutting is chopped up as always. Did not see the second. Third is like a concrete road, no 4wd needed.

The beach is in pretty good nick down the south end, but I probably would not try heading up on a big high tide. North of freshwater is plain shagged. There is heaps of errosion and I doubt this would be passable at high tide. I have never seen the point so badly erroded.

Leisha Track is in good nick, a little chopped up getting onto it. The Rainbow beach side has a bit of a drop off but even for my low to the gound navara it was ok. The beach on rainbow beach side looked ok, but I never went up it. I read recently that mudlo rocks was covered with sand again, but the ranger told me it was exposed again.

One word of advice, if you have not been up there in ten years then you are in for a shock. It is pretty busy up there now, so if you are intending on camping make sure you get there early and pitch your tent! Other than that its still as good as it has always been!

Hi RealAndy, thanks for the heads up very much appreciated. Will do a day trip first up to check, my old camping grounds prior to the adventure of having a weekend away. Just hope I can get myself up in the morning off the air bed. Must be getting old at 18 years and 33 years experience.

I think you need to book your camping before going nowadays. The second cutting was always good (haven't been for a year or so now though).
As mentioned, it gets busy - if you are flexible it is probably best to go midweek and out of school holidays.

    Hi
Hubbie and I love to go up DI but now stay in the wilderness park. We find it quieter and less populated and have the convenience of hot showers ans rest rooms. It is ok up the beack camping areas but you will find that alot has changed. Where once you had high dunes giving you abit of shelter most camping sites are really exposed now.

A day trip sounds good if you haven't been there for a time and would be worth checking out the North Shore CAmping area( No longer called the Wilderness Park)
Also agree the third cutting is probbly the best as it seems to be least used.

Can you still camp up on the grass in the wilderness park.
I havnt stayed there for at least 10 years.
    Use to be coin showers?
The view was great and the trees gave a bit of a wind break.

You can camp almost anywhere you like in there but because it has been taken over by Noosa Shire council the number of campers allowed at one time is now limited. TRhere is plenty of grassy area to camp and we camp to the left side as it is much quieter and you have sites that offer an ocean view. If you send me an email I will send you copies of map for camping area and prices. You also need to pre book now.
    Email is ronnieandbill@bigpond.com.
