it is a crimson fusilier and when they die their belly goes red
they are only just okay to eat ,,better in Thai style
they hang around reef areas in big schools

Thanks for your information,i normally work to a pollicy that if i don't know what it is then i let it go. Maybe try it for a live bait if i catch one some day.
i wouldnt be letting it go just yet unless it has 2 10/0s through its back.
but seriously, there a great spanyid bait or flesh bait,

yeah, definately a fusillier. they school up in their 1000's up here and i've got an image on my sounder of a big fish breaking up the school.
like the others said, they are suppose to be the bees knees for live mackeral bait.
