Chris, Another exceptional report with quality photo's, well done mate.

When you get to QLD i'll get you on to some 50cm+ bass, best we have got is 63cm.

I can relate to the cold weather on the Hawkesbury, i used to fish it a lot and when i travelled up the mountains chasing trout i used to carry two pocket warmers, even they weren't good enough some times.

Just a thought, again, when i was down there we used to go to a place called St Albans Common, it was a really good bass spot, would be interested to find out what it is like now.

Keep you eyes on those bloody roo's mate they can be very nasty, hate to see your breaky on your boots!

    Cheers,
    John.

John a 50cm bass would be golden!
St Albans Common .......??? That would be on the Mcdonald River ....... I have no doubt it would be good summer bassin up there ! ........ It just needs a lot of exploration !
Yes John ... its now starting to get cold out west ( Zero Degs @ Richmond ..... on the Friday morning) ...... very dissappointed with +4
Those boomers ...... were the most fearless that I have seen ...... normally they hop away when you get within 20M ....... but not these ones! 10-15 feet away & they were head down feeding ........ I called the one that I took the photo of
When I'm up there next ..... I'll get DC to take some quality pics ( hopefully with me holding some fish )

    Cheers

    Chris

Top report Nagg, you must be keen to get out there with the low temps like they were/are at this time of year...

But do you realise that you can not target Bass and Ep during the closed season (June-August inclusive). Posting this on the internet may not be such a great idea if you are going to continue to do such a thing.

Thanks Leigh ....... Yep I'm certifiable

Now this is where things can get a little complicated ........ As far as I am aware , you cannot have bass or EPs in possession (June-Aug) ........ which I abide by 110%
    Actually I'm targeting bream

    Cheers

What you quote (about 'in possession') is correct Nagg, but be careful when you are saying "you are targeting Bass/EP"...thats where you could get into trouble.

    13 Jun 2008
Minister for Primary Industries, Ian Macdonald, is reminding anglers that there is a zero bag limit for Australian bass and estuary perch in all rivers and estuaries until 31 August to protect female fish stocks.
"Both Australian bass and estuary perch form schools and migrate to parts of estuaries with the correct salinity to trigger spawning," said Mr Macdonald.
"These great native sports fish can be vulnerable to fishing when they are in large groups.
"The zero bag limit was introduced from feedback from the community after a three year review into NSW recreational fishing rules was finalised last year.
"The zero bag limit does not close any waters to fishing and does not affect anglers fishing for other estuary species such as bream or flathead. However, any Australian bass or estuary perch caught accidentally should be returned to the water as quickly as possible."
Department of Primary Industries (DPI) Director of Wild Harvest Fisheries, Anthony Hurst, said the zero bag limit does not apply to Australian bass in freshwater impoundments and dams as bass will not breed in these areas.
"All fish in freshwater impoundments, such as Glenbawn Dam and Glennies Creek Dam in the Hunter valley, Brogo Dam near Bega and Clarrie Hall and Toonumbar Dam in the northeast of the state, are stocked fish and anglers may continue to fish under the normal bag limit of two fish per day," said Mr Hurst.
"NSW DPI stocks approximately 150,000 Australian bass in impoundments each year from our DPI hatchery at Port Stephens Fisheries Centre, and also helps angling and community groups buy more than 100,000 Australian bass fingerlings each year for stocking under the Dollar-for-Dollar Native Fish Stocking program.
Both the Dollar-for-Dollar program and the DPI hatchery at Port Stephens are supported by funds from the recreational fishing fee," Mr Hurst said
NSW DPI Fisheries officers will be patrolling bass waters during the zero bag limit period to advise anglers on the fishing rules and enforce size and bag limits for other species.
Anglers should check they have a current NSW Recreational Fishing Licence, available from more than 1100 agents, including bait and tackle stores and K-Mart, online at www.dpi.nsw.gov.au/fisheries/recreational/licence-fee or on 1300 369 365. People found without a licence can be issued with an on-the-spot $200 fine.
Money raised from the recreational fishing licence is placed in Trusts, overseen by angler representatives, and can only be used to create better recreational fishing opportunities.
Detailed information on fishing rules can be found in the NSW DPI Freshwater or Saltwater Fishing Guides, at NSW DPI Fisheries offices, www.dpi.nsw.gov.au/fisheries/recreational/regulations, and at most bait and tackle stores.

I am not bagging you out or anything, just dont want to read in another thread saying that fisheries got ya, thats all. So by all means, chase your Bream, but please leave the Bass/EPs' alone.

A perfect way to spend a couple of days. Loved the photos. Good bass too, nice and fat. Just the way I like 'em.
