Whiting on Banana and Pelican banks
Has anyone done any good there? I have been going ok north of Peel but I'm going to have a fish for them around here this weekend. A few years ago these spots really fired for the winteries but the last couple have seen the banks weeded up and no fish.

Hi Benjy
I fished the banana bank on thursday morning. Only got 6 and yes, weed was still a problem.
Where do you go when you say "north of peel?"

Try the very south east corner of the Pelican Banks on the run in tide. Just to the left of the channel markers running down to the Cardinal. There are usually a few boats down there so just drift around them.

Had a couple of drifts on the Banana banks yesterday, almost unfishable because of the weed. That stuff never used to be there either, must be something we've done to stuff it up - too much nutrient in the water or something. Maybe it will die off if we get a cold stretch?

Anywhere on the amity banks, have to move around a bit but you will find some with a bit of perseverance. You don't need to get among all the other boats either, that's just mob mentality - 'maybe they know something we don't'.
PinkPanther thanks for that I saw a few boats over that way yesterday but I couldn't be bothered heading over there after I found the banana banks unfishable. Went to the ne corner of Coochie instead and got a couple of squire.
We also drifted up a few whiting along point halloran, not many there but enough so we had a few livies. It was weedy there too but not as bad.
