Thread: Water pump

    Re: Water pump

    FNQ,
A cheap alternative may be one of the fountain/fish pond drainers. It's a plastic T piece to which you attach a garden hose, a suction hose comes off at right angles to the water flow ie venturi effect sucks water. Bunnings about $10 from memory. Off course it won't work out on the reef unless you have a very long hose & good water pressure LOL

Frank great idea thanks! never heard of one of those but will chase up this weekend, a 240v vac in an aluminium boat sucking water is not the most comfortable thought but I have had enough.

    thanks again.

one more idea is a fuel line with primer bulb to start the flow without leaving any elect on, and without having to suck on the tube to get flow going?

    Re: Water pump

I ended up checking out the pond emptiers they were a little larger in design than I could get away with so I headed to one of the sell everything outdoors places and picked up the cheapest large fuel bulb they sold (i had just last week threw away a poor performing one) connected some rubbish fuel line to the outlet and have just spent 5 min pumping all of the water out -worked a treat! Simple problem and a simple fix (thanks dreemon!) and thanks all.

Cannot help thinking that if I was 10 years younger if I might have been using this pump already!

    cheers fnq
