ok the follow up report (earlier than i had hoped)
ok so we arived at about 6:00, 1 hour after high tide and shortly after sunset. my brother had a baited up rod in the water getting a few little nibbles here and there but nothing great. I was casting around my NUCLEAR* chicken minnows and managed one little bream about 25cm and that is all with plastics for the night.
I rigged up my light gear with an unweighted hook and a pretty massive peice of mullet strip. after only five mins somthing very heavy grabbed it and headed for moreton peeling a few meters of line. It caught me by suprise and by the time i was standing up he spat the hook never to been seen again. This was the last action of the night.
I think after the big hit it was getting too late past high tide. had fun while it lasted but it could have been better with a few more fish.
does anyone know what i was doing wrong or what i can do to catch the first snapper?
