Hi Guys
I am looking at fishing Deception Bay for some Winter Whiting next week. Is the Red Bouy still afloat? any other suggested spots? what is the best ramp to use coming from Ipswich?

Hi spoty1,
Have you fished D'bay before, depending on your boat size the D'bay ramp looks pretty ordinary on low tide, finding enough water might be a problem. I will be keen to hear how you go. Good luck
Hi Sporty
I go out there every time from the Scarborough ramp, huge boats put in there! plenty of water, right at the end of SBorough near the Marina.
I used top go from Bribie but its further for me...distance is about the same to the Cockle Beds. We killed them there today, the size is better than past two weeks, maybe the cooler weather. We caught best in 8 -10ft water drifting, using Gulp Sandworms.. they love em!

We have been out at cockle banks on Friday and yeah the quality is getting better. Only been using gulp worms on a normal whiting hook, small piece only. Plenty of sandies also good quality too.
Hi Guys where and how do I get to the cockle banks if I put in at Scarborough?
head towards bribie and then stop with the rest of the boats.
hey joe.
just bought some gulp worms. thought the sandies would be gone?
better take som pots out on friday.
i have never fished there before

Plenty of sandies around at present and they are full I am hearing, straight from the Fisho this evening (he had some nice ones in his display fridge).

We use simple rig, long shnk whiting hook, 40cm flurocarbon 6lb trace and small pea sinker above a small swivel. Gulp worms couldnt be easier, just cut 2.5cm and put it on like a natural bait, best to leave the tip of the hook exposed a little, helps hookup.
Ive caught rays, flathead and whiting out there.
