New to Ausfish

Hi everyone,

After trolling around these forums for a couple of months, I finally joined.

I'm from the Newcastle area, and generally fish on Lake Macquarie, Port stephens, and the Hunter River.

After being a "tinny" user for most of my life, I've finally stepped up. I bought a mid 1980-s Mustang 1500, with a Suzuki DT55 motor.

I have studied the forums a bit before I joined, and have come up with the following questions:

1: Does anyone have original info about the Mustang 1500, such as seating capacity, motor recomendations, etc.

2: Can anyone tell me where to get an original or repro safety rail for the front? Mine's been removed and the holes bogged up.

3: The motor cuts out after 30-60sec at high speed. I suspect the fuel pump. Does anyone disagree?

4: If my missus and 2 kids are sitting at the back, I have to trim out just to get on the plane, then trim back in. Will a permatrim help in this regard?

5: I've seen some discussion on the subject of motor height. Can anyone explain where the best height is achieved (cav plate to keel height)?
