Can't post but can login

It seems I can post via my phone but not my laptop , why is that ?.

I have trouble on the phone myself, sometimes it just won't bring up the reply box, I've logged in/out cleared cookies and eventually it works for a while. This isn't the only site that screws me up, another forum I'm on I log on then the site goes weird and I have to keep juggling between mobile mode and desktop mode.

Are you running Google Chrome? I had problems with it on forums and ditched it.
There was a switch in settings that you needed to change, not at home at the moment so can't check but it had something to do with extensions. From recent posts I think others have also been having issues, there must be a member who is IT literate and can chirp in.

I've tried with edge and chrome , cursor just won't appear on reply section , same with advanced

I've been unable to reply for 2 weeks now on edge....yet out the blue today is ok with nothing changed on any settings.
The glitch is not at our ends I think....at the server most likely.

EDIT I can not post a reply today almost 10 hours after this original post.

It seems you can edit though??? this is definitely nothing to do with my end of the world.

I had the issue where it didn't matter if it was the phone or laptop. I usually stay logged in but a couple of weeks ago I got the shites and logged off, cleared all temp internet files and cookies, deleted Ausfish from my Favourites and started all over again. That seemed to work.
Are you using a Favourites link, delete it and create a new one, that might be the issue, it was with one of my banks, they'd upgraded their system but my Favourites was pointing to the old site and maybe that's what's happening with others on this site.

The ad is once again covering the reply area, only way i can reply is to go advanced, plus the only way i can reply to anything is to log out and log back in .

I Normal use Google Chrome on my desk top if Ausfish wont let me reply I open Firefox & can reply there as I have with this post

I'll have a play around once it annoys me some more. Never could get used to Chrome so don't use it.

Wow..thanks Datcol..just tried firefox and the reply box is open....whats going on with Chrome...?..never had a problem before and now the past month its turned to crap...

Same here, used MS Bing instead of Google and seemed to work. I suspect that with all the effort being pushed into Social Media these days the life of forums like this may be numbered as trying to keep up with the various software changes is getting too much. It would be unfortunate if these forums disappeared as at least we don't get the "3m Flattie" comment or other such stupid, very childish responses as on social media.
