Hi fellas,
I'm considering getting into a Fisher 520 Dual centre console. I currently have a Razerline 6.3 Olympian/150 Yam 4 Stroke, which I'm going to down size, not because of anything but our economy. Has anyone had any experience with this model? I was thinking of a 90 or 115 Etec. Fully loaded with 3 blokes, ice, fuel etc on occassions. Does anyone think 90hp is under powered with the 6mm hull? 490 kg basic hull weight. I may be travelling 80-100 Naughtical on round trips around the Capricorn region, if the weather is exceptional. Thanks dij
it appears that the two inline 3 cyl etecs 75 & 90 are almost identical in performance as the 75 is "strong" and the 90 "weak".... as sometimes happens with the top HP model of an engine configuration....so I would be a bit doubtful about the 90 on such a solid rig....it may really be more like an 85. Certainly poor value at $1000 more than a 75. Dont know how much more the 115 is but as the first 4 cyl cant help expecting it would be a leap in performance.
personally I dont know but 90 does seem a bit light, the weight is dry hull only, you'll near enough double that when in fishing trim (without the blokes), I'd be looking at the 115 or certainly asking Col at Fisher what his experience is
A bit off topic but after looking at the spec's for the Fisher 520 Dual centre console I noticed that the below new models have a thicker plate than the rest of the bigger boats in the range, 6mm vs 5mm . Would they be built the same as previous 520's, just with thicker plate? I know you can option up the bigger boats with 6mm, but these new boats come standard with 6mm. Could you get by by using less internal framework by using thicker plate? At any rate they would be one solid bloody boat and in these times of fu#$@^g rediculous petrol prices i'd say a lot of people will be taking up this option.

By all reports I'm starting to believe a 90hp is a bit small. I'm sort of heading towards the 115 or similar. I would be happy to travel at around 18knts in normal conditions- one thing I've learnt over the years is to drive your boat to the conditions, otherwise I'm too sore the following week.
The Etecs read really well, espeially their weight, but I've always been a Yamaha man, I suppose every one has their opinion. Thanks Dij
