mmmmmmmmmmmm ..................................... doesn't it all come from the same refineries anyway? ie. i think there's only a couple of refineries here in brissy and so the lpg is just a waste product from them anyway.

lpg is awesome stuff though, i commute 110k's a day (return trip into brissy) in an old '88 patrol and estimate that the saving over using petrol is between $3k to $4k per year. ie a new install pays for itself in a year for me.

I've had my 1996 Fairmont with the 4l Tickford EFI on LPG for around a couple of months now and it's made an enormous difference!(understatement of the year)

It's now costing about $7.30 per 100km - using about 10l per 100km @ 73 cents per litre.I live in a rural area and if I were in Melbourne it'd be more like $5.50 per 100km.The majority of my driving is country but I now tend to not nurse the car as much so that'd make me use a bit more.

With regard to excise it's not taxed at present and they've got the law in place that it'll be applied in 2011 @ 2.5 cents per litre, rising by the same each year until it hits a cap of around 12 cents per litre..apparently.

Personally I'd like to see the fuel delivery tankers running on LPG or CNG (compressed natural gas) so that the large transportation component in cost would drop significantly (wishful thinking??).

Also with the Johnny Howard initiated $2000 rebate there have been about 100,000 cars converted (according to commo radio aka ABC radio).Just wonder how much in so-called "polluting greenhouse gases" this has reduced??...something for the climate-change nuts!I look in the motoring column of the Herald-Sun and there are far more enquiries about gas conversions these days so it's no small thing.

have had my challenger on gas for 8 months now i can get 430 out of 60 ltrs and i can get 360 out of 60 ltrs depends how i drive it,ended up 700 out of pocket reckon i have saved that already with my tassie trip, paid 60.9 at redcliff last week, runs smooother on gas ,cleaner oil,if your car backfires its not tuned rightand a good idea is to put your air cleaner on small occy straps instead of the clips, its does more of a fart than a bang that way........bob
