Was pretty crook today so thought i'd take it easy and do a bit of old man fishing. Kept half a dozen for a feed. All taken on cabbage in the tweed. Ben
Nicely done mate!! I'll be heading down after exams to crack my luderick hoodoo!! Looks like some nice fish there. Hopefully the tackle stores down there will have some weed in stock.
Hey simmo, Tackle stores don't have any at the moment, the rain and the big tides killed it. Cabbage is very scarce on the rocks, i collected mine from the brissy river. Ben
Nice to know there are still people not only posting up a thread about luderick but that there are people out there who still know how to catch them. I thought it was a dying art. Nice feed.
Nice catch there. Am looking for a blackfish rod at thye moment so I can get into the action (mine are still in storage and will be for a few more months yet). Thats the type of fishing i miss most after moving up from Sydney.
I've been getting a few lately as well. Best session i've had this season was 19, worst was 12. They're all around the 700-800g mark, with a few pushing over 1kg.
They've been very patchy with what they're eating, some days you won't get a touch on green weed but black weed and cabbage will take them, others they'll only touch cabbage, or only black weed. Last resort is to use peeled prawns or yabbies, rigged the same as the weed. Will also pick up bream and trevs if they're around which are fun on the nigger gear.
