catfish in maroochy river - is this new?
Hi Guys
as the title thread suggests we went for a fish yesterday and we caught a catfish in the maroochy river, first time ever we have seen one in the river system,
Are catfish normaly in the maroochy river and have they been there for long , this one was about 30cms maybe longer will post a pic later of it

Yes mate reasonably common, and some big specimins amongst them

Yes there has always been plenty of them in the river and the further up you go the more you get. The fresh water brings them down to the lower reach of the river and as it clears up again they will move back up to the dirty and brackish water.

dunathan rock can get plauged with them. they can get verry frustrating as they school up in large numbers and eat every thing in sight

cheers for that will know not to venture to far up the river next time , was thinking we were really good fisho's not catching em , or really bad cause we cant even catch them, hehe

not too sure Catfish in almost any River is uncommon.
