Great fish brian, I am jealous mate.

isnt it interesting to see the newer gulp colors outfishing the old faithfuls? I saw a report in a mag, where a guy said fish became immune to pumpkinseed, and will do the same with nuke chooks. Im not sure Im convinced, but its an interesting theory. Maybe the top fishos are just using the newer colors too, lol.

Well done anyway. Its nice to see the weather and time off come together.

Excellent fish there Scalem, congratulations to you.
Gotta say though, seeing all these cooked and uncooked fillets in one post has me HUNGRY for a feed of fish, but with my schedule at the moment it will be weeks before I can wet a line again
Oh well, when I do I might ask Poodroo to come along with his camera, it seems to enhance a blokes chance of getting a decent catch

    Hi Andrew,
Now there's a thread topic all on its own!!! Do you remember ages ago I did a thread "do fish learn?" It begs the question why T1 is having more success with the smelly stuff, and why you would think that the older colours are being ignored in favour of the new stuff. According to evolutionist theories, if bees can tell each other where to go and what to look for, and fish are also derived also from a single cell origin, maybe there is a common grounding to think fish can communicate to each other what to avoid? You'll go nuts just thinking about it, and there is no answer... Or is there? Aigutso will do a comic for sure. "Hey splash, watch out for the Nuke chook" LOL
Do me a favour and PM me when the bream run is on at the Goldy will you? Should meet you on the Nerang for a night session for the big bream.!!

MAte, I can give you the heads up on hiring Poodroo as photographer. Timing is very important. Whatever you do, don't ask him to grab the camera while he is in the middle of untying a wind knot or you are likely to cop a sinker in the noggin!!

Be careful what you wish for Dirtysanchez. Ask and I might just take you up on it.

I used to work on the anti- herding theory, if everyone was using Nuc Chooks id use something else ... then went back to bait which im enjoying but the point is people have been using Pillies and mullet for years and I cant see why it would be any different for placcies.

Maybe the top fishos just know what they are doing and change when they need to, different colours/bait and presentation is no different either for bait or placcies and is no different in my opinion.

Bec on the weekend used a prawnstar with a hunk on mullet hanging off the treble and who am I to argue. I think trying new things is what lifes about.

Great report Scalem and excellent pics as well!
To whoever asked, IMHO jew freeze very, very well.
I have learned to freeze the fillets in large slabs/chunks, then before cooking, chop to required size while still mostly frozen solid. I begin cooking well before the pieces are totally thawed, I have found the best results from using this methodology.
Superb eating fish, very adaptable to any style of cooking, yummy!
    Cheers, now it's breaky time!
