Top weather and fishing combination 12-6-2008

I decided to have the day off work as the weather was looking good. I rang my good Mate Jim and the date and time was set. 9:30am got to manly gentlemen hours after all it was our day off. Head out into the bay with a 10kn westerly still blowing got to our spot first drop got a cod. Jim and i had a couple of double hockups which has not happened in a long time the fish started to hit the deck steadily over the next few hours. Jim and i both lost some unstopables. In total we got 9 squire 1 flathead 1 cod and 2 flounder. The weather was perfect we would have caught about 13-14 legal squire but we where selective on what we kept. We bumped into horse and his mate good to once again i hope things hotted up once again for you.
Squire ranged in size from 40cm to 60cm.
Brent dont worry Jim and I both felt some out there for you plus 2 unstopables.
We saw allot of Turtles today too. Thanks for coming along Jim.

Good to catch up out there Steven. Chris (Bayfisher) and I worked that Western side of Mud for a few hours but saw nothng exciting on the sounder nor any good bites. I think the weather was a bit too good for the shallows and we should have run wider. Great to see a good feed from the Bay

What was the placky you had on at mud?

Gday Horse i was using rainbow shad and the Nuke chock both of which worked well. Webby just getting the practice in for the river to Mud if you know what i mean. Most of the fish were caught at another popular loaction.

Well Steve does this mean the droughts broken?
You sure you left some for me at that secret location.
Nice going guys they are some quality bay snapps.
I think Jim was beginning to wonder if we were going to see fish again in the bay.
Its very rare these days that a combination like that comes together and it looks like the fish played the game today and the weather was perfect.
I can't wait to get back out there.
    Cheers Brent

I wish!!! You can tell I have a free Saturday to wet a line this weekend, just look at the forecast for M/ bay. Good on you for getting a chance to have a fish, that was a great session in anyones' books.

My Mechanic tells me I have been getting too much salt spray around the motor, and it is likely from plouging through ordinary conditions at slow speeds, with big rooster tails close behind me, so rather than braving it again, the pin and quieter water is the go this sat. PLay with some little bream, but I still rather a feed of pinkys.

    Congrats for the catch!

    Welldone Steven78.
I too left around 9.00am. It was a perfect day, so I did some prospecting around Goat/Bird to no avail. Last minute casts before I had to go to work and I got my personal best 45cm snap. around Peel. Not as good as your haul but I'm getting there.
    Cheers

No mate but used to work for the Government (in those days I wouldn't have had to come home). Work for myself now, actually for my wife. When I take a sickie, the boss knows.

Have never fished Mud, it's on the to do list. Left Raby Boat Ramp and only played around Peel, Goat, Bird. No tuna but a few feeding schools of tailor (only small fellas though).
