i meet keechie at the board walk at coloundra on saturday morn and we had flathead as the first target. we gave the place a good work over but no flattys wanted to play so the call was made to nail a few bream.
we moved to a few spots in pelican waters and soon found some bream to keep us bizy for a bit. the bream were hitting our plastics but we had a lot of trubble hooking up to the little suckers.
after about 7 jettys i finaly set the hook well on one then he did me on the pilong, grrrr.
i was getting frustrated as i was not getting keechie the fish he wanted so we went to try around kawana to see if they were more active there.
we tryed a few spots there but still had trubble finding fish so i took keechie to one of my more produtive banks and on the 3 cast bang i snag a little flatty. we had hb's on (as i found thay work real good at this spot), and we worked along the bank looking for the bream after about half an hour i finaly hook a nice little bream so i new they were around, soon i was on again but it was not fighting like a bream. and to our saprise it was a nice whitting that skoffed the sx40.
we still worked the bank and soon i had a nother bream on and we got a pic of him this time and sent him back.
keechie looked a bit frustrated and he changed lure to a shirasu minnow and soon he had his first fish in his hand, hehe a nice size hardy head had nailed his lure and we both had a chuckle and chucked it back then bang he got a nice little flatty witch put a bit more of a smile on his face.
we then made the calll to try and nail a whitting on popper so we hit up curramundi.
soon we had our poppers flying in the sky and i did not feel that conferdent as the tide was running out but shore enuff soon my popper got slamed by a hungry little whitting. i finaly did it, i landed that little bugger and boy it felt good, after all this time i got what i was looking for and i was on top of the moon. keechie soon had them hitting his pop r but did not get one to stay on the popper longenuff to land one of them, but he did get slamed by a big bream. we chucked it in after that as the weather was getting to us both.
