With my crew of Lillian and Timmy D., we made the early getaway from work Friday arvo, to give our Fav Jumpinpin haunts for an overnight hit on the Bream.
Had tested the water during the "Touchy" M&g the week before, now for a full blast at them with oodles of fresh Mullet gut for the mission.
The Bream played the game and we had a feed in the esky by midnight fishing the shallow areas on the run in tide.
The quality was good with a few 30cm + specimens going into the slurry with the more avg fish sizes being between 25 and 29cm.
We rolled up in the bottom of the boat for a few hrs kip to resurface at daybreak to fish some deeper water along a mud edge for the smaller morning tide.
Again the fish were on the chew, with a steady stream of keepers coming aboard. Double hook-ups were common . The contest was on for biggest fish, it went from 32cm to 32.5 them I land a 33cm, Lill chimes in to blow me out of the water with a cracking PB of 37CM !! That's just too good and she takes the title (This time ).
With the wind kicking in and a few light showers, it's time to pull the pin and get home before the heavens open.
We left them biting but we had a nice feed to keep us all happy.
This weekend looks hopeless for a fish in open water, you have convinced me to have a crack in the pin instead. I'll be really happy to get a haul like this.
thanks for keeping the frames for us also. hopefully some other members will follow your lead this winter with frames from a range of species (bream, tailor, snapper etc).
as you know, we managed to get into a few nice specimens ourselves a hundred plus km north of you. Most importantly, my youngest caught her first bream ever (with some physical support from me). It turned out to be a stonker at around the 33-34 cm mark, which was great for a sub-3-year old on a cheapo barbie rod. Needless to say she (and her parents and sister) were very happy - good times ahead I suspect.
