Is the back track to flinders beach, Nth straddie, open?

Heard a rumour that the back track into the campgrounds on flinders is closed. Can anyone confirm if this is true?

Heading over in 2 weeks and if we catch the barge we want will arrive at high tide.

Dont really want to be driving down the beach at high so want to know if i should postpone to a later barge.

    Cheers

Was open at easter, but its possible that its closed now. There is also a ban on driving the beaches 2 hours either side of high tide.

I thought it was only 1 hour either side of high. 2 hours will suck if that's true.

Plastix, if you are talking about the track accessed through Amity passed Rufus King seafood shop yes it is open. I was on it last week. The 1 hour either side of high tide exclusion exists on all beaches. The tide was really high oon Flinders last week and even after 1 hour, the Adder Rock access was still flooded.

Thanks all. OK, not sure about the names of any of the seafood shops. Usually too pissed to read

Just so i know we are talking about the same one i'll do my best to explain it. Careful, i've had a few so dont get lost

When heading towards amity you turn right at the T intersection (instead of left towards amity) at the pro fishermans house. Then turn left straight away and follow the wavey road (cant think of a better way to explain it other than a bitumen roller coaster if you've been down it you know what i mean )

Its turns to the right and there is usually a bin at the track entrance. The track goes straight into the sheltered camping area.

Its the only way (as far as i know) to get to the flinders camping areas without driving on the beach.

I was thru there this weekend.

All the tracks seemed to be open.

The way you describe is past Flinders township.

No beach to drive on at around high tide.

    Rod.
My dictionary defines green as ‘unripe, immature, undeveloped'. Perfect description.

Most political parties are seen as interested in what the voters think, the Greens are seen as thinking the community should be interested in what they think.

Answer to your question - yes and maybe no. The track your referring to can head straight down to the beach access or half way down turn right towards camp grounds 1-7(ish). That track has a deep dip and the dip has water about up to an average size man's thighs for about 10 metres. Until it dries out you are better heading to the beach and going in that way, unless your 4wd has a snorkel.

If you are camping at the northern end of Flinders, turn left not right at the end of Beehive Rd, drive through Amity and just before you hit the beach at Flinders, turn right onto the track and that brings you out onto the northern campgrounds.

    Cheers,
    Angus

Cheers Angus. Hopefully the other track has dried out by then.
