    Hervey Bay Pier Spanish

Just got back from Hervey Bay and thought i would report a nice Spanish i saw caught at the end of the Urangan Pier yesterday. Nice fish of about 17-20kg caught on a livey.

Noticed some schools of massive mullet hanging around the pier that looked all of about 3kg! Can these be tempted to take a bait?

That pier is awesome. Seen some great fish caught off it.

Gotta make sure you make friends with someone with a pier gaff though

I imagine it's illegal nowadays the way to get the big Diamond Scale Mullet used to be using a long spear, at times there's some absolute thumpers hanging around the pier

Buggers are very difficult to get on a hook!

Would certainly be the easiest way Mark as they school up around the pylons - unfortunately that is now also illegal as any form of netting is banned, thank god you can still at least dangle a line off there!

edit: Oops you said Scarness jetty, you might be still be allowed to castnet there, definately not allowed off the Urangan pier though
